Perth-raised actor Isla Fisher teases possible Home and Away return

Isla Fisher, a Perth native, and national treasure is allegedly open to returning to Summer Bay more than two decades after leaving the popular Australian television show.

Fisher, who is currently promoting her new film Back to the Outback, told Yahoo she would be interested in resuming her role as Shannon Reed.

“Of course I’ve thought about it,” she said when asked about a possible cameo appearance.

“I’ve thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be hilarious?’ But then the reality of it is, obviously, you have to give lots of notice, and then it gets written in and then you have to commit.

“But obviously it would be fun just to sort of like, walk by with a surfboard or something at some point.”

From 1994 until 1997, Fisher portrayed Reed. The former MLC student went on to star in a number of famous Hollywood movies after leaving the Bay, including Confessions of a Shopaholic, Wedding Crashers, and The Great Gatsby.

The actor and her husband, comedian Sasha Baron Cohen, relocated to Perth during the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week the couple celebrated their 20-year anniversary on Instagram with a string of photos.

On Wednesday, the 45-year-old Australian actress and the 50-year-old English comedy star shared the same text and photo gallery on their personal Instagram pages to commemorate their two decades of marriage.

One of the images featured the Borat creator wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with images of his wife’s face.

“Happy Anniversary 20 YEARS,” the message said, along with a quote from A. A Milne’s ‘Winnie the Pooh,’ which added, “If there ever comes a day we can’t be together, keep me in your heart.” Winnie the Pooh, I’ll stay there indefinitely.”

Baron-Cohen, on the other hand, added his own remark to his post, writing: “Happy Anniversary, my darling.” I’m writing instead of sending you a card. Our longevity is attributed in great part to our location – after all, Hollywood is known for its long marriages.”

The pair first met at a party in Sydney in 2001.

They married in March 2010 and now have three children together: Olive, 13, Elula, 10, and Montgomery, five.
