Lynne McGranger celebrates 37 years with Paul McWaters

Lynne McGranger has been on Home and Away for nearly three decades, and she’s been in a loving relationship with boyfriend Paul McWaters for the entire time.

The actress is the longest-serving female cast member on the iconic Australian soap, and she is also Paul’s main lady, having been married to him for over 30 years – 37 to be exact.

On December 4, the pair celebrated their anniversary, with Lynne taking the time to share a few beautiful words from her beau.

“37 years?!?!!! How the heck did that happen. Love you, you wild and crazy guy,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a sweet photo of the two together.

While their relationship has remained relatively low-key, Lynne explained to New Idea in 2014 how the two met in a romantic – albeit amusing – way.

“In 1984, I invited him over to my house [after we had supper together], and he never returned. It hasn’t happened yet, “During their first joint interview, Lynne cracked a joke.

The pair have been together since then, and despite all of their significant years together, they have no plans to marry.

“I’m still waiting [for him to propose],” Lynne said.

“We always joke and say we’ll do it when we want some white goods, and I’m here to tell you now, we need a new washing machine!”

Lynne has previously praised Paul for assisting her in juggling motherhood and her work. The pair has a 30-year-old daughter together, Clancy McWaters, and Lynne has previously thanked Paul for assisting her in balancing parenthood with her career.

“Aside from being a wonderful man, if it wasn’t for him I’d never have been able to do what I’ve done on Home and Away,” Lynne told Woman’s Day in 2019.

“He took over as a house husband and primary carer of Clancy,” she said.

“He’s amazing. We still enjoy each other’s company and still make each other laugh.”

The beautiful couple bond over their shared passion for sports, and they frequently attend AFL games to support their beloved Sydney Swans.

Paul’s love of technology, on the other hand, is something they don’t share, with Lynne describing her long-term spouse as “sort of a computer geek.”

“Which isn’t my cup of tea but he loves it,” she said.

And, while the pair aren’t married, Lynne hasn’t ruled it out.

“If we do get married it will probably be a barbecue in the backyard,” she said.
