Coronation Street cancelled once again as England play in Bronze Rugby final

Coronation Street recently saw the demise of Stephen Reid after his crimes were exposed and he was run down by Peter Barlow. However, the street hasn’t quite recovered as many are still suffering the consequences.
Coronation Street is off the ITV1 schedule once again this week as it makes way for the Rugby World Cup.

Over the last seven weeks, the legendary soap has been moved from its weekly spot of Fridays to earlier in the week to accommodate the games.

Tonight, Coronation Street has once again been moved off the schedule as the England vs Argentina Bronze final match kicks off at 8pm.

The final airs on Saturday, October 28 which means next week the schedule for Coronation Street will resume to its normal days of Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm.

During this week, Tim Metcalfe (played by Joe Duttine) has been struggling with PTSD after being attacked and left for dead by Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).

He has been sleeping on the sofa after having nightmares each night about what happened to him, unable to move on.

Things were made worse as he found out that George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) had decided to take on Stephen’s funeral at Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) request.

He protested outside the funeral home before Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) managed to talk him down, however after she was pictured taking Gail Platt (Helen Worth) to the funeral Tim felt even more betrayed and left their home.

Elsewhere in the week, Ed Bailey (Michael Georges) was caught out by Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) over his gambling addiction.

He left £6,000 in Michael Bailey’s (Ryan Russell) bag which landed in him in trouble with the police, and having Dee-Dee Bailey’s (Shannique Sterling-Brown) boyfriend to help them out.

Later, the family went for a meal and as Dee-Dee opened up about their family struggles, leaving Joel Deering (Callum Lill) considering whether to tell Dee-Dee what he knows about Ed.

For Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) he was worrying about whether he would be going to prison for killing Stephen Reid.

However, as DS Swain (Vicky Myers) entered the room she informed Peter they were satisfied he wasn’t to know Jenny Connor’s (Sally-Ann Matthews) life wasn’t in danger.

Despite not going to jail, Peter was still beating himself up over the accident and worried his family about relapsing and becoming an alcoholic once again.

After a pep talk from Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor), Peter attended a meeting and informed his family he was fine and they shouldn’t worry about him falling off the wagon as he had too much to lose.

Will the street be able to move on from Stephen’s tirade once and for all?
