Home and Away RECAP: Long-running fav Leah won’t be off to the slammer this time

I was besieged with fan mail (well, two emails) from my faithful following pleading for my recaps while I was away on vacation (mainly spent in the lounge room and stroking a puppy dog).

I’m back, which is great news. But bear with me because I haven’t seen the episodes that I haven’t seen yet. Fortunately, the script repeats itself frequently, although there will undoubtedly be some gaps in my knowledge… There’s talk of Leah getting arrested, for example.

Leah was in Stephen Something’s motel room with an unimpressive sandwich, preparing to throw her worthless boyfriend, Justin, in for murder when I tuned in, only to learn it was Stephen all along. (There are no surprises here.)

EP 7609 Leah ANICODEMOU and Justin JSTEWART decide to show John SWITHINGTON they have the laptop from Stephen HAA 1357

Now, Leah hasn’t had much luck with her husband dying or being kidnapped; both have occurred too many times to list, and it seemed like she could be in for a double-whammy.

However, according to the internet, she was able to talk herself out of the hostage situation and escape with Susie’s laptop and $90,000, while Stephen Something is charged with Susie’s murder.

Leah has just informed Justin that she has received their money and intends to retain it, which leads me to tonight’s show and the first qualm.

For weeks, we’ve had to endure Justin’s whining, moping, aggression, and muttering as he spiralled deeper into his drug addiction, and now, after seeing him for the first time in a long time, he’s magically become clean in a couple of days.

His moral compass has been revived as well.

Justin says, “We can’t just ignore the fact that there’s a bag of stolen money in our room.”

“How can you not see that this is wrong?” says the narrator. ”

Leah, on the other hand, is adamant about keeping the money she stole.

“I’m not giving the cops our money, so get used to it,” Leah adds.

One minute later, Leah admits, “I owe you an apology,” which isn’t really an apology because she’s keeping the money and splitting it with John, who was also duped.

A money laundering plot would have been intriguing, but instead, Leah surrenders to Cash the “sexy officer” and is arrested.

But Leah, a long-time favourite, will not be sent to the slammer this time.

Cash was given a “anonymous tip,” which was handy.

“We owe you a lifetime of beer, mate,” Justin says.

So, as far as I’m concerned, all the loose ends have been tied up there, and Susie McAllister will never be spoken again.

The food truck explosion and affair, which have sort of melded together, were additional hot issues before my vacation.

While I’m not sure how my favourite, Jasmine, is doing, Emmett’s vision has returned to normal. He’s so good at it that he can’t take his gaze away from Mac.

Home and Away

Emmett is praised for taking Bella under his wing during a particularly trying period after her breakup with Nikau.

“Please don’t toss away all we have,” Nik begs Bella.

Bella responds, “There isn’t a single road that leads to us getting back together.”

“Stay the heck away from me,” says the narrator.

Even though he isn’t connected to Bella, Dean adds his two cents since family is essential to him.

Dean replies, “She’s done with you.”

Back to Emmett, who is sipping his evening beverage and staring at Mac. The screenplay writers are cruel mistresses, and Emmett throws a bombshell just as things are heating up between them. He’s been scouted for a “major” position in New York.

He says, “It might be my final opportunity.”

I’m intrigued. Is Emmett’s last-ditch vision related?

It appears that this is not the case. He doesn’t want to abandon Bella in her hour of need because “it may destroy her,” which is actually Mac’s way of telling one of the town’s few eligible bachelors not to go.

Emmett, without a doubt, will not be sensitive to nuance and will abandon both of them.
