Emily Symons of Home and Away talks about her time on Emmerdale and what she misses most.

Emily Symons, a star of Home and Away, is best known for her role as Marilyn Chambers, but Emmerdale viewers will remember her for seven years as barmaid Louise Appleton on the ITV soap.

More than ten years after leaving Emmerdale, Home and Away actress Emily Symons discussed what she misses most about the soap opera.

The 54-year-old actress made her acting debut in 1989 on the Australian soap opera Marilyn Chambers, for which she is well known.
Before leaving for the UK, she worked on the soap for three years. However, she was unable to stay away for too long and returned in 1995 and stayed until 1999.
Emily took a nine-year vacation when Marilyn returned to Summer Bay in 2001 before making a permanent return in 2010.

But Emmerdale fans will recall that Emily’s near-decade break from the Channel 5 soap was spent in the form of Louise Appleton.

From 2001 through 2008, Emily played the Woolpack bartender in her acting debut as Louise.

Unhappy with love Louise had a run of disastrous relationships, and when she realized Ray Mullan was actually her covert stalker, she even killed him.

In a previous interview with RadioTimes, the blonde beauty looked back fondly on her memories of Emmerdale and revealed what she missed most.

“We had a great social life on Emmerdale!” she explained. “I made so many wonderful friends up there and I do miss that aspect. The camaraderie is very special.”

Emily revealed she is still in contact with several of her former co-stars, adding: “Charley Webb is still a very dear friend. I also keep in touch with Sheree Murphy and Mark Charnock, we chat to each other in Instagram.”

Knowing that Emily still has a passion for soap operas after working on them for more than half of her life is consoling.

She had previously stated to the publication, “I adore working in soap. The writers are very creative to keep producing these stories year after year and creating fantastic, wonderful scenarios, so it’s a tremendous medium. It’s not simple.

I enjoyed my time on both shows, but I’m glad to be back in Australia with both my real family and my TV family.
