Coronation Street’s Sarah and Adam Barlow faced a difficult year after she admitted to have an affair with drug dealer Damon Hay and falling pregnant with his child but heartbreakingly lost it.
In the upcoming weeks, Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) of Coronation Street will make his way back to Weatherfield, where he is expected to wreak more havoc on Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien). When Damon learned that a prominent drug dealer was looking for him to exact revenge for grassing him earlier this year, he hurriedly departed the Street.
When Damon left the ITV soap opera, he had no idea Sarah was expecting his child after their passionate relationship. After having another panic episode, Adam tells Sarah in later moments that he feels better.
Adam, feeling hopeful, believes that this could be a fresh start for them both as she promptly suggests they have drinks together.
Sarah assures Adam that they will work together to address his anxiety while researching panic attacks as they are seated in the pub.
The two leave after spending the evening together, but they are both unaware that Damon is observing them from the other side of the street.
As Adam heads for his office, a man follows him in a van and is soon horrified to find himself tied up in the back of the van, will he be able to escape this?
Could Damon finally be getting revenge on Adam for driving him out of Weatherfield? Is this the end of the line for Adam?
Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod recently opened up about Damon’s return and told Express.co.uk and other press: “The story kicks off almost in the first moment of the new year. It’s revisiting the unfinished business between Adam, Sarah and Damon.
“We arrive in the new year and Adam and Sarah are rubbing along okay. They’re trying to amicably co-parent Harry, as per the agreement when they split up, and it’s going alright.
“Then suddenly, ‘wallop’, Adam finds himself in this nightmarish situation all at the hands of Damon, who’s unexpectedly come back.
“You may remember that he was run out of town by Adam’s scheming.
“In our minds, Damon has been somewhere away from Coronation Street plotting his revenge. It arrives as a fairly blunt force on the first episode in the new year.”
