Weatherfield youngster Amy Barlow has been part of the Coronation Street family for almost two decades but fans have said the long-standing character is now “awful”
Coronation Street has allegedly turned Amy Barlow into a “unlikeable” character.
Before Elle Mulvaney assumed the part in 2010, the character had been on the cobbles for nearly 20 years and had been portrayed by a number of actresses. After being sexually assaulted by Aaron Sandford, Amy recently took matters into her own hands and is attempting to stop predators from harming other women.
In one instance, Amy damaged a police cruiser and ended up in the hospital, earning her own incarceration. Some Corrie fans are perplexed by Amy’s transformation as a result of the gloomy plot; one even remarks that Amy “used to be a normal character” and wonders what happened.
“Amy on her vigilante s*** again,” was what someone else wrote on X following a recent incident. Another person expressed agreement by tweeting, “Amy is now a vigilante,” beside an emoji of a horrified face.
“Amy Barlow the vigilante on a mission to right the world’s wrongs,” stated another. “Give it a couple of weeks and she’ll be dressing up as Batman.” It was said by another that the persona had grown “so unlikeable”. They said, “Isn’t Amy awful,” on X. On a soap forum, an additional dissatisfied viewer posted: “What have they done to her character? These days, she is very terrible.”
The spectator said, “She used to be a normal character,” in response to someone else asking what they meant. She is now damaging police vehicles and dragging someone to a nighttime industrial estate where they are left to perish.” One viewer commented, “Seriously #Corrie!!!” “What monotonous, irritating storylines you consistently have. You’re just pulling out another ridiculous narrative with Amy Barlow.” Many others, on the other hand, are delighted to see Amy doing her part. One fan commented on X, “Just to be clear, Amy—you deserve a medal for what you accomplished.”
“Amy Barlow is the best character in the show right now,” said someone another. According to others, Amy is attempting to process her trauma through her behaviors. One admirer said, “I really want Amy to get professional help.” “Maybe in future she may even find a career path to help women who have experienced what she has.”
