Bridie Carter confirms she’s joining the cast of Home And Away

She graced our screens for six seasons as Tess McLeod on McLeod ‘s Daughters, a wildly successful drama. And now, with the exciting news that she’s landed a new spot on Home And Away, Bridie Carter is set to make a triumphant return to prime time TV.

The 49-year-old actress took her announcement to Instagram on Monday evening, posting a windswept selfie on Sydney’s Centennial park grounds.

“Getting swept away in Sydney ‘s magnificent Centennial Park. Glad to join the team / family on one of Australia’s longest running shows-@homeandaway,” Bridie began.

“Very, very happy to be welcomed to the family fold in these odd times. After filming today, I found solace in nature in one of the city’s most spectacular green spaces-not being on the farm, I need that! So thankful for this amazing public park. More photos and updates to come. Lots of love, Bridie,” she signed off.

Delighted fans couldn’t quite believe their beloved Tess McLeod would appear on Home And Away and they were swift to flood the announcement with congratulatory messages.

“I can’t wait to see you on my other favourite series,” said one user.

“Yay who home and away is getting better now that our beautiful bridie (tess) is on screen whooo can’t wait there so happy to have you add so much love and light to the series but good luck to all the actors,” beamed another.

A third one exclaimed: “Tess McLeod, Ummmmm, is doing home and away!!!”

The much loved star, who is married to clothing designer Michael Wilson, is set to play a real estate agent named Susie McCalister and told the Daily Telegraph it was an simple decision to embrace the part in the midst of the pandemic.

“I think it’s amazing that I’d like to come to Summer Bay in these turbulent times when my industry floundered that I got a phone call to say,” she told the newspaper.

“I was at the same time shocked and excited. I am very fortunate and very thankful,” said the mother-of-two.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic bringing much of the entertainment industry to its knees, Bridie has another big project in the pipeline with a McLeod’s Daughters movie being announced in June.

“I have no words, do I dream or is it really happening? We look forward to it and thank you sooo much!!! We are the best family, MD family,” Bridie said at the time.
