Following Sheila Canning’s departure from Erinsborough, Neighbours has altered its opening titles.

After Sheila’s departure was handled last week, Monday’s broadcast on Channel 5 (February 21) offered two changes to the sequence.

The old scene in the Canning family backyard with Sheila (Colette Mann), Levi (Richie Morris), and Kyle (Chris Milligan) has been removed.

Levi and Kyle have been spotted on the beach with Kyle’s wife Roxy Willis (Zima Anderson).

Meanwhile, Zara Selwyn (Freya Van Dyke), Amy Greenwood’s troubled daughter, has been added to the titles for the first time.

Zara appears alongside Amy (Jacinta Stapleton) and Ned Willis in a harbour setting (Ben Hall).

This also implies that the out-of-date photograph of Amy, Ned, and Roxy outside the Flamingo Bar, which was wrecked in the recent storm, has been removed.

Sheila last appeared on Neighbours two weeks ago, reacting to the news that Roxy had broken into Freya Wozniak’s (Phoebe Roberts) home.

She later stepped away from the TV to visit her daughter Naomi, whose partner had become ill.

In last Friday’s episode, word reached Ramsay Street that Naomi’s partner had died, and Sheila had agreed to stay with her for the time being.

Kyle explained to Roxy: “She needed to get to the hospital right away. Naomi’s boyfriend had passed away. The man was the father of three children. Gran claims they don’t have any other relatives, thus Nomes is responsible for them. Gran has gone to assist her because she’s completely out of her depth.”

Roxy responded, ” “Mama, of course, has. She would go to any length for her family.”

The new Neighbours titles’ diverse settings reflect the recent rise in on-location filming, which has been enthusiastically appreciated by fans in recent weeks.

“We are really happy about our new opening titles because they represent our desire this year to feature a larger variety of thrilling and diverse background locales in the 2022 season,” Neighbours executive producer Jason Herbison previously told Digital Spy.

“We believe it improves our storytelling and shines a light on Melbourne’s wonderful city and environs.”
