Later this month, Channel 5 will play the final episode of the venerable Australian soap series Neighbours, the network has revealed. On July 29 at 9 p.m., the show’s final two episodes will air after 37 years on television.

The long-running Australian soap opera Neighbours will show its final episode on Channel 5 later this month, the network has announced. The show, which has been on television for 37 years, will end on July 29 at 9 p.m. in a special double-episode airing.

In the final scenes of the program, well-known characters from many different seasons of the show came back to Ramsay Street. Bosses have vowed it will end on a “amazing high” ever since it was announced earlier this year that it would be cancelled.

It has already been made known that Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, and other renowned actors from its illustrious past who have achieved great things, including Guy Pearce, will be among those making a comeback for the show’s finale.

After Channel 5 announced it will discontinue showing the program in February, the program’s future had been in question. And in March, the show’s Twitter account posted: “We are so sorry to announce that Neighbours will cease production in June after almost 37 years and approximately 9,000 episodes broadcast.

“We have no choice but to put the show on hold in light of the loss of our important broadcast partner in the UK and despite a thorough hunt for alternative funding. We understand that this is a big disappointment for our wonderful, devoted supporters, as it is for the entire team. We appreciate all of your comments and encouragement, and we pledge to end the program with a bang. We will now be honoring our neighbors.

For more than 30 years, the daily drama about the people of Ramsay Street has been broadcast on UK television. It helped launch the careers of celebrities including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, and Margot Robbie. According to Channel 5, axing the soap will free up financing for new UK series.

The longest-running drama program on Australian television, Neighbours, debuted on the Seven network in 1985 but was cancelled before being taken up by Ten the following year and becoming a global success. Since 2011, it has been carried on digital channel 10 Peach in Australia, and the UK broadcaster has provided all of the money for it.

Up until 2008, Neighbours aired on BBC One before moving to Channel 5. In recent years, it has included a number of British guest stars, including Janet Street-Porter, Ryan Thomas, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Amanda Holden, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
