Home and Away Roo Stewart star shares real reason why she often takes breaks from soap

Actress Georgie Parker of Home and Away has revealed the true reason behind her frequent absences from the well-liked Australian soap opera.

After appearing in the renowned serial opera as Roo Stewart in 2010, the 59-year-old found herself in the spotlight. Her persona is that of the daughter of the renowned Alf Stewart (Ray Meagher) and Martha (actor Belinda Gibson).

Despite having a significant role in the program, Georgie frequently takes time off to act in pantomimes and plays. In an earlier open interview with TV Week in Australia, the celebrity expressed her gratitude for having the freedom to pursue interests outside of her career.

In an honest interview with TV Week Australia, she stated: “I don’t envy the writers who have to continually writing me out of the program so I can come and go, to do the plays and other minor engagements here and there. At this point in my career, I believe it’s critical that I get to investigate all of my alternatives for working with the individuals I’ve known for 40 years. I’m really appreciative that I have the flexibility to do both.”

“I’m delighted with what the authors have provided for Roo. She’s had a full life, and this year has allowed me to engage with a variety of individuals, which I’ve really liked.” In the UK, actor Ray Meagher also performed in pantomimes. But a few years ago, he made the decision to stop, and he seemed to be perfectly okay with it.

Outside of her acting career, Georgie has previously discussed her ongoing health struggles, including a childhood automobile accident that left her feeling as though she should hide her body. “When I was young, I got hit by a car,” she said in an earlier interview. The celebrity discussed dealing with the condition—which causes the spine to bend and twist to one side—with Body+Soul. Georgie disclosed her approach to managing the disease by stating that she frequently engages in extensive “strength training” and “a lot of swimming”.

“It impacts me on a daily basis and I just have to stay fit to keep my back as functional as possible,” Georgie said to Now To Love in 2017. I’ve never regretted [having scoliosis], and it’s helped me realize how fortunate I am to be able to live my life mostly as I like despite this major obstacle.”
