Of course, there are only so many character archetypes and stories from General Hospital. However, there are instances when we get a distinct déjà vu feeling from soap operas, where a character appears to be copying the actions of another, albeit not exactly. Well, that adds to the fun! It is possible to forecast the future of the younger character by examining the past and present of two distinct individuals. Laura Vining Webber and Josslyn Jacks today Spencer Baldwin Collins, Cassidy.
Laura Collins: In the Beginning
Being switched at birth, Laura (Genie Francis) spent the first ten or so years of her life being raised as the Vining family’s daughter. When she moved in with Rick (Chris Robinson) and Lesley (Denise Alexander), she had to change households. Mom Carly (Laura Wright) couldn’t decide, so Joss (Eden McCoy) alternated between the homes of stepdad Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and bio dad Jasper Jacks (Ingo Rademacher). Oh, and Joss did experience kidney switching even though she wasn’t switched at birth. Jake had just passed away, and she was meant to receive a donation from him. However, it turned out he was still alive. Thus, Nelle’s kidney was substituted.
Josslyn Jacks: First Love
Sweet law student Scotty (Kin Shriner) was Laura’s first love. Cam (William Lipton), a charming fellow college student, was Joss’s first romantic partner. Anthony Gear’s character Luke assaulted Laura. The video of Joss having sex was made public after it was captured on camera. Of course, those two cannot be compared, but both women experienced uncontrollable events in their lives. While Laura was committed to Scotty, she fell in love with Luke, a reluctant mobster. Joss cheated on her boyfriend Cam by seeing a fictitious mobster named Dex (Evan Hofer).
General Hospital: Where Do We Go From Here
Laura would go on to save the world several more times, the last time being from a lethal toxin in Greenland. She was abducted and thought to be dead. She went insane and then came back to herself. She is the mayor of Port Charles, a grandmother, and a mother. Is Joss going to get any of that? If so, would Joss want to know ahead of time?
