Actress Emme Rylan has a lot to be happy about today, even though Lulu is confined to a medically induced coma after barely escaping a bomb blast in which she lost her then-boyfriend.
Happy Birthday, Emme Rylan
That’s because this adored performer is turning 43 years old today—she was born in Providence, North Carolina, on November 4, 1980! After completing the two-year William Esper Studio acting program, Rylan, real name Marcy Faith, made her television debut as a guest on the Nickelodeon comedy series Drake & Josh.
A year later, Rylan played Lizzie Spaulding in the CBS daytime soap opera Guiding Light. She played antagonist Winnie Harper in the direct-to-video movie Bring It On: All Or Nothing that same year. Ironically, Hayden Panettiere, her co-star in that film, had previously portrayed GL’s Lizzie for four years.
Following its 2009 cancellation, Rylan stayed with the popular CBS serial until winning the role of Abby Newman-Abbott, a legacy character on The Young and the Restless, almost instantly.
From May 2010 to October 23, 2012, Rylan played Abby. She made a brief comeback in February and April of 2013.
The soap opera community found out the same month that Rylan had been brought in to take Julie Marie Berman’s place as Lesley Lu (Lulu) Spencer on the ABC series General Hospital. Her debut episode aired on April 11, 2013. She departed the program in December 2020 following Lulu’s transfer to a New York medical facility.
In addition to her day job, Rylan has participated in several short films, such as Impulse Black, Shevenge, and 2BRO2b, and has made guest appearances on CSI and &#*! My Dad Says.
