Emmerdale spoilers: Heartbreak follows Jacob’s grand gesture for Victoria

In Emmerdale, Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) startled everyone by developing affections for Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins) all of a sudden.

This week, Jacob’s experience with a near-death situation drove him to express his feelings to Vic. They almost kissed when he said that he may have died if he hadn’t been completely honest with both himself and her.

David (Matthew Wolfenden) stepped in to break up the conversation. He arrived to Victoria’s house yesterday with a bouquet of flowers in advance of their supper because he had spent the previous few days hoping to get back together with her.

Vic lied to David about feeling ill and sent him home because she was unsure of her feelings for Jacob.

While David was still pursuing Vic tonight, Gabby (Rosie Bentham) and Jacob paid her a visit.

Gabby said she wanted Vic to return to HOP and assist the company get back on track. Only after eating a sandwich Vic had made did Jacob have an adverse reaction that necessitated a trip to the hospital. As a result, HOP’s reputation has been damaged, and Gabby is currently making great efforts to restore things.

Vic was delighted and a little taken aback when Gabby admitted she only made her choice as a result of Jacob’s remarks.

Vic congratulated Jacob as Gabby walked away but said that their relationship hasn’t changed as a result. Victoria made it apparent that they couldn’t be together, and Jacob claimed to be okay with that despite it being crystal clear that he wasn’t.

David Metcalfe’s departure from the Dales is preceded by this incredibly unexpected plot development. When he finds out Vic and Jacob are in love, he will unavoidably be devastated, but will he leave the community so they may be together?
