Gary Windass (Mikey North) was eager to prove to Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) that he had handed over a new leaf on Coronation Street, and that — he had accepted her wedding proposal. — things are certainly going well on that front, but could he be able to discover the truth about his fiancée cheating on him with Ali Neeson (James Burrows)?
On Valentine's Day, Gary's actions gave Maria cause for concern— so much so that she began to believe that he was going to get up to his old tricks again. The longer she imagined about it, the more it made sense, and when she saw him handing over money to the visitor concerned, she was convinced that he was again behaving as a loan shark.
Ali paid her a visit to the salon and expressed her interest when he noticed that she wasn't in good form.
As the pair discussed more, the attraction was more evident than ever, and so they gave in to their wishes and spent the evening together.
However, Maria was later horrified to discover that after all, Gary wasn't getting up to his old tricks, but rather that he was trying to get an engagement ring for her. In episodes that followed, she accepted Gary's proposal and warned Ali to stay timid about their dalliance.
Coronation Street has revealed so, in the coming episodes, Ali is telling Adam (Sam Robertson) about his night with Maria. Will Adam be in a position to keep the secret? The solicitor tried to get vengeance on Gary for a long time, and exposing Maria's one-night stand with her ex would be one way to do that.
