After a difficult period in 2022, Abi from Coronation Street and Kevin Webster’s relationship has been going well lately, but things could go wrong for them once more soon.
After Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) made her intentions known, Coronation Street viewers pleaded with ITV executives not to split up Kevin Webster (played by Michael Le Vell) and Abi Webster (Sally Carman). Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) pleaded with Abi and Kevin to give Cassie a chance, and they did, welcoming her into their homes and their lives at work.
The previous week, Cassie assisted Roy Cropper (David Nielson) in getting her mother Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) a Christmas gift by removing one of their clients’ cars from the garage. On their return trip, Cassie did, however, notice a large scratch on the side of the car, which she later attributed to Abi.
In tonight’s episode, Cassie was clearly flirting with Kevin in front of Abi, but she staged all of her missteps, including the time she parked her tool trolley in front of the car, to look like accidents.
After hanging up, Kevin said, “They can’t fit us in until next week but he said he would call if there were any cancellations.”
“Don’t suppose you fancy belling him again just to make sure?” inquired Abi. I simply find it too painful to look at.”
“He said he would call us, plus we have some time before the customer is due to pick it up,” Kevin quickly replied.
“Hello, my name is Lee, I had a call saying my car was ready to pick up,” the customer said to the three of them when he arrived later that day to pick up his car.
“I’m sorry who called you?” Abi inquired, perplexed as to who made the error. Prior to Cassie’s prompt response, “I did, it was me,”
Lee said, “There was a stack of phone numbers and I must have gotten them mixed up,” but then he saw the large scratch next to his car and yelled, “What on earth is that?”
Abi apologized and said, “I am so sorry, it happened when we were working on it, and we are getting it sorted at no charge.”
“It is going into the body shop this afternoon, be ready for tomorrow,” Cassie said, exacerbating the situation.
Abi wrote furiously as Lee emerged from the garage: “Tomorrow? You mentioned that, but why?” prior to Cassie exclaiming, grinning, “I was only trying to help!” and leaving.
Later that evening, Abi returned with the car after locating assistance, prompting Roy to inquire, “Evening, burning the midnight oil, I believe the expression is.”
Abi clarified: “I had to drive this to Warrington and back to get these seen too, a scratch coupled with an unhappy customer who wants it back first thing in the morning as good as new.”
Roy went on, looking worried, “A scratch?” “No one is more careful with a tool than I am Roy, but hey ho, Mia Culpa apparently,” Abi said in closing.
Is Roy going to spy on Cassie? Will Abi realize that Cassie has been lying to her from the start?
As Cassie flirted with Kevin and moved Abi aside, viewers of the show noticed what she was doing and began to theorize on their X accounts—formerly known as Twitter.
remarked @fussyMcWhiskers: “#corrie More slippery than a barrel of eels is Cassie. How could she put Abi at fault? Roy needs to let Kevin know that Cassie stole the car.
“Cassie is a narcissistic manipulator—she doesn’t even want Kev,” said @TellyVsPodcasts. I can’t stand it when Abbie and Kevin are content.”
Additionally, @Samanth22356123 tweeted, “They better not be pushing Cassie and Kev together!!!!! #Corrie.”
In a lighthearted comment, Bobby Dazzler said, “#Corrie Cassie is playing a dangerous game trying to split Kev & Abi up.”
Ryan Glendenning wrote: “Considering how much Abi initially supported Cassie, Cassie is a cow—causing friction between Abi and Kevin.” #Corrie.
“Cassie is a big 2024 villain because she messes with Kev and Abi,” tweeted @JamieSummersTV. B***h #Corrie.
@kezzab333 stated: “Kevin and Abi will go ballistic when they find out what Cassie is doing #Corrie.” (italics included)
