Where Home and Away stars are now – fatal fall, horror divorce and Hollywood tragedy

Dieter Brummer, the star of Home and Away, died suddenly last week at the age of 40.

Dieter, who portrayed Shane Parrish in the Australian soap, was discovered dead at his house, and the cause of death is not being investigated.

His devoted fans and former Home and Away players immediately paid tribute, expressing their astonishment and grief.

“We lost our gorgeous, brilliant, humorous, complex, and adored Dieter,” his family stated in a statement.

“He has ripped a huge hole in our lives, and our world will never be the same,” the statement said.

“All of you who knew him, loved him, or worked with him throughout the years are in our thoughts.”

But where is the rest of the cast of the hit show that started the careers of so many celebrities?

Kirsty Wright

Kristy, 43, starred on Home and Away from 1995 to 2005 as Chloe Richards.

Kristy went on to feature in a number of TV series and films after leaving the soap, including Above the Law and The Lost World, as well as Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

She currently resides in Australia with her ten-year-old son, Jai Wright, and stated that she and Dieter were once in love until she learned of his death.

“Dieter and I started dating when I was 17,” she said in a lengthy Instagram statement.

“I don’t know how we did it, but we managed to keep our relationship hidden from the prying eyes of the media when he ended Home and Away and I had just started, and I’m not sure how we did it.

“I immediately fell in love with him, and luckily for me, he felt the same way. We were best buddies and each other’s safety blankets.

“Our friendship never perished even when we split up years later,” she continued.

Melissa George

Angel Parrish’s actress, Mellisa George, departed the show in 1996, the same year Dieter did.

After moving to Los Angeles in 1997, the 44-year-old scored parts on Grey’s Anatomy, Friends, Hunted, The Good Wife, and the film Mulholland Drive.

She is also said to have made a multi-million dollar fortune after creating a product called Hemming My Way, which allows consumers to change hems without having to sew them.

She claimed, however, that her 2016 divorce from Jean David Blanc left her destitute, telling Stella magazine: “Nothing was left for me.

“‘OK, what do you have?’ I said. Beautiful jewellery and luxury clothing are among my possessions. And I just got rid of everything.

“I refused to work because I didn’t want to leave my children. After all, once you’ve lost everything, you’ll know exactly what you need. Have faith in me.”

Melissa and her two kids, Raphael, six, and Solal, four, presently reside in Paris.

Ben Unwin

Jesse McGregor was portrayed by Ben Unwin from 1996 to 2000, and then again from 2002 to 2005.

He was tragically discovered dead in 2019 at the bottom of a 300-foot waterfall in Byron Bay that has “taken many lives” and was thought to be cursed by locals.

“Police attended Minyon Falls, Whian Whian, in response to a welfare concern,” according to a police statement.

“A 41-year-old man’s body was discovered. The death isn’t being investigated as a homicide.”

Ben earned his law degree after leaving Home and Away and worked as a senior solicitor in Australia.

He’d also worked in the music industry, directing videos for Culture Club, including I Just Wanna Be Loved and Tubthu by Chumbawamba.

Isabel Lucas

Isabel Lucas, 36, starred as Tasha Andrews in the TV show Home and Away from 2003 to 2006.

She went on to star in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Daybreakers, the Wedding Party, In Like Flynn, Immortals, and Shooting in Vain, among other films.

She joined an activist organisation working to end whaling and dolphin culling in Japan, and she is currently a spokesperson for the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation.

From 2010 to 2012, the actress dated Chris Hemsworth, her former Home and Away co-star, and Aussie folk musician Angus Stone.

Isabel received a Young Hollywood Award for Female Star of Tomorrow in 2011.

She appeared in Ed Sheeran’s “Give Me Love” music video the following year.

Her position as a charity ambassador with Plan International Australia was recently revoked due to her contentious vaccination statements.

Lincoln Lewis

Lincoln Lewis, 33, joined the cast of Home and Away in 2007 when he was 20 years old.

Lincoln stayed for three years, becoming one of the show’s many heartthrobs before leaving to pursue a film career.

Tomorrow, When War Began, After Earth, and Bait 3D are among Lincoln’s cinematic credits.

At the Australian International Movie Convention in 2011, he also won the Male Australian Star of Tomorrow Award.

He was cast in the third season of the family drama House Husbands in 2014, and he also got a role in the World War I miniseries Gallipoli, which aired in 2015.

Lewis participated on the Australian edition of Hell’s Kitchen as a celebrity participant in 2017.

Isla Fisher

After leaving Home and Away, Isla Fisher, 45, went on to become one of Hollywood’s most well-known actors.

Isla portrayed Shannon Reed in the Australian serial from 1994 to 1997, winning a Logie Award for most popular actress in 1996.

Sacha Baron Cohen, whom Isla married in 2010 after a six-year engagement, has three children with her.

Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Great Gatsby, Now You See Me, and Wedding Crashers are just a few of Isla’s notable roles.

She’s also the author of two young adult novels and the Marge in Charge line of books.

Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth, 37, played Kim Hyde in the drama before emigrating to the United States to pursue stardom.

His career took off, and he’s been in some of Hollywood’s greatest movies, including Avengers, in which he portrays Thor.

In addition to Star Trek Into Darkness, Snow White and the Huntsman, and The Huntsman: Winter’s War, he has appeared in.

In 2010, Hemsworth married Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, with whom he has three children: India Rose, ten, and twin sons Tristan and Sasha, eight.

Heath Ledger

In 1997, when he was 18 years old, Heath Ledger featured in the film Home and Away.

Heath, who played Scott Irwin, joined a long line of actors and actresses who went on to have illustrious careers.

His early cinematic career began with the Australian feature Blackrock and the adolescent comedy 10 Things I Hate About You, both of which became box office hits.

Heath Ledger went on to star in major motion pictures such as A Knight’s Tale, Brokeback Mountain, and The Dark Knight.

Heath was tragically discovered dead in his New York residence in 2008 by his maid.

His death was later determined to be the consequence of prescription medication misuse, according to toxicology findings.

Dannii Minogue

Dannii spent a year as Emma Jackson on Home and Away before launching her career as a pop singer in the 1980s.

Dannii’s career was pushed by such early appearances on Australian television, despite not spending much time on the successful serial.

Dannii’s CV might read singer-songwriter, actor, talent competition judge, TV and radio personality, and fashion designer, among other things.

Dannii went on to become a judge and coach on Australia’s Got Talent in 2007, as well as a winning mentor on The X Factor UK with Leon Jackson and Matt Cardle.

She now serves as a judge on The Masked Singer Australia, and she and her ex-husband, rugby star Kris Smith, have a 12-year-old son.

Ray Meagher

Since 1988, Ray Meagher, 77, has played Alf Stewart in Home and Away.

Ray currently dabbles in theatre and cinema appearances in addition to his Home and Away commitments.

He took up the part of Bob the mechanic in Priscilla Queen of the Desert in 2007 and performs in Christmas pantomimes in the United Kingdom on a regular basis.

He portrayed Abanazar in an Aladdin at the Anvil Theatre in Baskingstoke in 2008, and Captain Hook in Peter Pan at the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells the following year.

Ray continues to play Alf in Home and Away, and holds the Guinness World Record for the longest run in an Australian series.
