The six characters most likely to die in Coronation Street’s deadly week

Death is knocking on Coronation Street’s doors – and underground Victorian sewers – in the most insinuating of manners, and the question on everyone’s lips is: who might die?

Also, why hasn’t that bloody sinkhole been filled yet?

The weather in Manchester is notoriously stormy, and a downpour causes the blasted hole to collapse even further, dumping four confirmed people into the depths below – a flooded sewage system.

Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews), a landlady stuck in the hope that someone will come to her rescue, is one of the characters most at risk in this specific calamity.

Johnny (Richard Hawley) arrives to save the day, but he’s no James Bond, so he’s stuck as well, with both parties battling to stay afloat.

They aren’t the only ones down there. Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) is on a quest to assassinate Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), but they both fall victim to the same fate.

Fortunately – or unfortunately – Abi manages to keep the pistol, and a tense standoff begins, with both of them seizing the gun at one point.

But it’s not just each other they should be afraid of as surges of water crash through the maze of tunnels.

They’re just as likely to perish from the elements.

These four characters are the only ones who have been confirmed to fall through, so they’re obviously first on the list to meet their maker – but there’s no guarantee that others won’t get up there as part of a rescue mission.

Expect the unexpected.

Meanwhile, Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) is back and ready to kill, and his target is Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).

Back on the street, against a stormy backdrop, he intends to kill not only her, but also many of her loved ones.

If prison can’t stop him, then surely only one thing can – death.

Fans would be gutted if Harvey killed off such a show favorite then escaped once more – so we reckon we could see a target on his back too. A well-deserved one at that.

But will he take anyone with him?

Finally, we don’t much fancy poor Aadi Alahan’s (Adam Hussain) chances either after their car is smashed into by Harvey’s prison van.

When the car catches fire and is going to explode, Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) must make a split-second decision: which of his children should he save?

He grabs an unconscious Asha (Tanisha Gorey) from the truck and escapes out of the way just as the explosion occurs, with Aadi still inside.

Has Dev abandoned his son?

Of course, there are a lot of individuals involved in the dramatic events, and given that the entire Street is on the verge of collapse, these may be the most vulnerable characters at the moment.

Things can change as quickly as a sinkhole might fall.

So, in this week of atrocities, we wouldn’t consider anyone safe…
