Tributes have poured in for Dieter Brummer, 45, the former star of Home And Away, who was discovered dead at his home on Saturday.
“We lost our gorgeous, brilliant, hilarious, complex, and adored Dieter,” his family said in a statement on Monday. He has left a huge void in our lives, and we will never be the same again.
The death is not being considered as suspicious.
Dieter’s co-stars, relatives, and friends are now paying homage to him on social media. Dieter was best known for his role as Shane on Home And Away in the 1990s.
In a statement, his family said, “Our thoughts go out to those of you who knew him, loved him, or worked with him throughout the years.”
Dieter’s co-stars on Home And Away, as well as those who worked with him on Underbelly and other projects, have expressed their recollections of him.
Kristy Wright, Alex Dimitriades, Emily Symons, and others are among the celebrities who have paid heartfelt tributes to Dieter.
Kristy Wright
Kristy Wright, a Home And Away veteran, tweeted this touching flashback photo with the caption: “I’m speechless right now, but my heart is pounding and I’m paralysed. Dieter, my first real love, may you rest in peace.”
Kristy Wright
She later uploaded a series of photographs of herself and Dieter over the years, explaining in her sorrowful comment that they began dating when she was 17 but kept their relationship a secret because he was “a very private person.” Kristy shared an impassioned description of their relationship, revealing how much Dieter meant to her.
“This is a difficult one… Dieter was a very quiet guy, yet he was adored by so many people all around the world that I feel compelled to pay tribute to him. Despite the fact that this moment does not appear to be genuine. Despite the fact that the tears won’t stop flowing, “she penned
“Dieter and I began dating when I was 17 years old.” He’d just completed Home and Away, and I’d just begun, and I’m not sure how we managed to keep our connection hidden from the prying eyes of the media. Our young love was able to flourish in the privacy of our own home.
“I was a young suburban girl, and he was Australia’s idol… but he was so normal!” So down-to-earth… yet fascinating. I immediately fell in love with him, and luckily for me, he felt the same way. We were best buddies and each other’s safety blankets. Our relationship never perished, even after we broke up years later.”
Emily Symons
Another Home And Away actor, Emily Symons, posted this black-and-white throwback in memory of Dieter, whom she described as a “kind and honest person” in her touching comment.
“This is extremely sad news, and I can’t believe it. Dieter was a very wonderful, kind, and sincere individual. Working with him was always a pleasure. He was a much-loved member of our Home and Away family, and I’ll never forget his gorgeous grin. At this trying moment, he is thinking of his loved ones.”
Laura Vazquez
Laura Vazquez, a makeup artist and former cast member of Home And Away, shared this photo with Dieter with the following heartfelt caption: “There are no words to describe it. Dieter, rest in peace. It’s a really sad day today. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones .”
Alex Dimitriades
Alex Dimitriades, who co-starred with Dieter on Underbelly, also posted a heartfelt message. He expressed himself as follows: “I’ve always felt your grief, but we’ve never really talked about it since we’ve never been that close. I knew you were one of the genuine types, perhaps a touch too genuine for this artificial society.
“Well-behaved and frequently misunderstood. Regardless of the embodied ownership of an imprisoned spirit, he was a gentleman. Look at that grin; it’s far too young, but I think 45 years was too long in your brain. So, my friend, you can now relax. Make the most of your existence. That last line is a message to anyone who reads this, not just my old running partner.
“It’s a terrible day for me; I’m grieving over this awful loss. I would push the button that stated “Call someone in distress, you could save their life.” Take care of each other’s mental health, and please stop dying since my page is starting to resemble the obituaries section, and I’m having a hard time dealing with it. Dieter Brummer, may you rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.”
Home And Away cast
Other current and past cast members of Home And Away have expressed their sadness and loss at Dieter’s death, sending heartfelt remarks on social media memorials to him.
“Heart-wrenching xx loads of love mother bear,” Sam Frost said in response to Laura Vazquez’s post. “Sending you so much love xxx,” Emily Weir wrote in response to the same post.
Lynne McGranger commented on Twitter: “So depressing. Please get in touch with me. Inquire about people’s well-being. And if you’re not feeling well, tell someone! Whatever it takes, yell over the fence, make a phone call, send a text message, or post on Facebook. I’m no expert, but I believe that talking about your worries, concerns, and negative thoughts might help to reduce their influence. God bless DB and may he soar to new heights ”
Home And Away cast
Georgie Parker, who starred in Home And Away, made many touching tributes to Dieter, including one to Emily Symons that read: “I can’t image how his loved ones are feeling. Much sympathy to them, terribly sad news; he was a wonderful man.”
She wrote another letter to Laura Vazquez, saying: “I can’t believe it; he seemed like such a kind person. I’m very sad for his family and friends.”
Georgie commented on the official Home And Away Instagram page: “Such terrible news since he was such a kind man and a talented performer. At this extremely difficult moment, I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.”
Ryan Clarke
Ryan Clarke, AKA Whippet, a former Home And Away and Bondi Rescue actor, also paid tribute to Dieter on his Instagram Stories, writing: “Take it easy, friend. Thank you for the fun moments as a youngster and the drunken prank calls later in adulthood.”
Tristan Bancks
Tristan Bancks, another Home And Away veteran, wrote a touching homage to Dieter with numerous old photographs. “A couple photos with an old buddy that we lost today,” he added. Friendships formed when you first leave school last a lifetime. Dieter was a witty, witty, deep-thinking person who lived life to the fullest.
“To his friends and family, I am heartbroken right now. Many people will have stories to tell about their adventures with Diet. The majority of these photos were taken in London in 1996 and Sydney a year previously. Many people, including me, are heartbroken tonight. “Be careful, buddy.”
Cameron Daddo
Cameron Daddo shared this photo of Dieter on Instagram with the heartwarming caption: “He’s a beautiful, down-to-earth good person… Brumner, Dieter RIP. Most of you may know him from @homeandaway, but I met him when we collaborated on a circus special for a television special. We pushed ourselves to and beyond boundaries, we never imagined we’d reach… courageous spirit, keep going. I’m sending prayers to you and your family, pal.”
