In Neighbours, Chloe (April Rose Pengilly) has been having problems with her relationship. With the weight of her brother’s aspirations for the future on her shoulders and Leo (Tim Kano) in her ear, it’s a pressure cooker scenario. Things are going to come to a head.
With all that’s happened, Chloe isn’t sure how she feels about Nicolette (Charlotte Chimes), and Aaron’s (Matt Wilson) urge to keep up appearances is wearing her down. She’s on the edge of a mental breakdown, with Leo in her ear about her relationship breaking up and prodding at the wound of her fading happiness.
There’s a lot of strain, and there’s no time to ponder.
Chloe chooses to take a vacation from the vineyard in order to sort things out in her brain and make up to Nicolette. Nic is overjoyed to finally get some alone time after she treats her partner to a romantic brunch. She becomes so enthralled that she begins babbling about their future, causing Chloe to withdraw inside. This girl has the ick, and there’s no way to get rid of it.
In other news, Leo is busy professing his love for Chloe to Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis). Later, when he learns that she believes her relationship is developing too quickly, he assumes he’s still in there and devises a strategy to resolve their difficult issue.
But, before that can happen, Chloe is completely taken aback when Nicolette proposes to her. She’s practically speechless, but she manages to come up with the word “yes.” Nic has heard it and is instantly revelling in the glow of getting betrothed. It’s not the one she wants to say, but it’s too late; Nic has heard it and is basking in the glory of becoming betrothed. She runs off to yell it from the rooftops, leaving Chloe in a tangle. Chloe is obliged to smile and suffer it, but she feels much more enslaved than she did before.
Chloe is in a difficult situation because so much is depending on their connection, including Aaron and David’s (Takaya Honda) future family. Nic has no idea how Chloe is feeling and continues to tell everyone who will listen about her news, pushing Chloe further away.
When Aaron and David learn of Jane’s intentions to arrange a surprise engagement party, they realise this might be the start of something very awful.
Chloe freaks out and runs right into Leo’s arms as the party has the precise impact they’re afraid of. When Aaron and David learn of this, all they can think of is their futures blowing up in flames. Is this going to be the clincher?
Scenes will begin airing on Channel 5 on Monday, August 9th.
