But, if the melancholy new teaser for the long-running soap is any indication, former lovers Dean and Ziggy may never get back together.
On Wednesday, Channel Seven published a new trailer for the show, depicting bad boy Dean (Patrick O’Connor) struggling for his life in the ICU with Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) by his side.
‘Is it too late for #Diggy?’ According to a post on the soap’s Instagram page.
In the teaser, video of their love journey throughout the years is intercut with scenes from his gruesome vehicle accident.
Before she stands by his hospital bedside, Dean tells Ziggy that he loves her.
Before being apprehended by boyfriend Tane Parata, Ziggy tells an unconscious Dean, ‘I forgive you for everything’ (Ethan Browne).
Fans commented beneath the video that they liked the notion of the on-again, off-again couple being together, with one writing: ‘I love them.’
‘They belong together,’ said another.
In earlier trailers, it was revealed that Dean, Mia (Anna Samson), and Nikau were all engaged in a vehicle accident (Kawakawa Fox-Reo).
While Mia and Nikau, who are both pregnant, manage to flee the debris, Dean is left battling for his life.
On the programme, Dean and Ziggy had a brief romance, but it ended when Dean hid a secret from her.
Despite the fact that they have moved on with other partners, the two still have feelings for one another.
Sophie and Patrick are a real-life couple that are happily dating.
On Monday, August 9, Channel Seven will air a new episode of Home and Away.
