Courtney Miller, who starred in Home and Away, has spoken out about Nikau Parata’s shocking infidelity plot.
Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) commits the ultimate treachery by sleeping with his modelling agent Sienna Blake in this week’s shows on Channel 5.
Because he feels Bella has betrayed him with her photography tutor Emmett Ellison, Nikau cheats on her. Later, he is dismayed to discover that this was not the case.
“I knew this narrative would be a heartbreaker for people at home watching,” Courtney, who portrays Bella, said of the melancholy plot.
“Bella and Nikau have such a lovely and realistic relationship. I was ecstatic to convey the realism to Bella’s grief, an emotion that everyone watching would understand.
“Bella would be devastated if she found out about Nikau’s infidelity. Nikau is the ground beneath her feet. I’m hoping Dean and Mackenzie will be able to assist her.”
Courtney responded when asked how Bella and Nikau might have handled their recent problems differently: “When it comes to their roles in this new-found modelling world, Nik and Bella have both chosen to be ignorant.
“They are putting in so much effort to support one other’s endeavours that they are neglecting to listen to what they really want. This will put them to the test, but they will triumph.”
Nikau grabbed the eye of Sienna’s modelling agency after a chance meeting in the city earlier this year, and the continuous tale started. Bella encouraged Nikau to take the position, but she was subsequently concerned about the sacrifices he would have to make.
A handful of sequences from Home and Away were shot on location in Sydney, away from the show’s regular seaside backdrop.
“With its more styled appearance and less ‘beachy’ vibe, the modelling plotline has been big for the show,” Courtney said, “and playing the ups and downs of Bella and Nikau’s relationship was a tremendous challenge for us both as actors.”
“As performers, it allowed us to wallow in the misery of bewilderment and grief.” I’m sure the fans aren’t having much pleasure seeing this heartbreak.
“I liked being a part of Summer Bay’s unique, never-before-seen vibe. Due to time constraints, our site coordinators had to go outside the box to find spots close to Summer Bay.
“A lot of the sites are in Sydney, which is the ideal setting for the majority of the plot.”
JR Reyne and Rose Riley, who play newcomers Emmett and Sienna, were also praised by Courtney.
She stated, ” “Rose did such a good job of bringing pure reality to Sienna that you wanted to despise her. Rose, of course, was stunning!
I spent the most time with JR. JR and I developed a really great chemistry between Bella and Emmett in between laughing and chatting.
“My and JR’s deep friendship certainly impacted this tight character interaction. We had a lot of fun on set, but owing to all of our chatting, he made me go from a ‘A’ student to a ‘B’!”
