After discovering a suitcase full of cash, Susie’s (Bridie Carter) laptop, and a burner phone in his hotel room, Leah (Ada Nicodemou) has been put through the wringer with Stephen (Bren Foster).
Her SOS text led to his being apprehended and charged with murder, but she is left with the sad realisation that she had questioned Justin for a brief time (James Stewart).
When Leah eventually summons the confidence to tell Justin about her worries, he replies with sympathy, stating that he doesn’t blame her and that it’s his fault for acting so wildly. Now that Justin is on the mend, the two are beginning to see a way ahead in their relationship.
When Justin arrives at the home the next day, the situation becomes uncomfortable, but they manage to grab breakfast together at Salt. Justin’s resolve cracks after their date, and he begs to move back in, but Leah isn’t ready yet.
Justin, desperate to reclaim his life, proposes a compromise: he relocates to the cottage at the bottom of the property. Leah agrees, but she is agitated. Leah is surprised to see Justin arrive at the cabin with his belongings and quickly tucks a huge bag away.
Justin senses Leah’s apprehension over his return and tries to comfort her. Leah, on the other hand, claims she has to “deliver the bag back to Tori” (Penny McNamee) and dashes inside.
When she opens her door, we see that Leah has stolen the bag of cash from Stephen’s room, concealing it for herself and interfering with police evidence…
