As Kieran waits for news from Martha on next week’s episode of Home and Away in the UK, he becomes closer to Jasmine. When he moves in for a kiss, though, their newfound relationship is put to the test – how will Jasmine react?
Alf had returned to Merimbula with Kieran’s letter when we left off last week, having to agree to let Martha read it.
There’s no guarantee she’ll agree to meet Kieran again, but at the very least, the letter provides him a chance to express his feelings and apologize for his mistakes in the past.
Kieran is looking forward to the start of a new week at Summer Bay. Roo hasn’t heard from Alf in a long time and isn’t feeling very hopeful.
However, while she waits for her father to respond, she is taken aback when he unexpectedly returns to the bay.
When Roo inquires about Martha’s reaction to the letter, he is surprised again. Back in town, Martha emerges from the bait shop, ready to meet her son for the first time in months.
She’s furious with Roo for inviting Kieran back into the bay and offering him so much help, knowing how much trouble he’s created in the past.
It was supposed to be Martha’s decision whether or not she saw her son, but she feels that Roo is making decisions for her again.
She decides to see Kieran despite her concerns.
Kieran may not have his mother’s or Alf’s backing, but Jasmine is now solidly on his side. He moved in with her and Irene last week, and while Jasmine was first hesitant to live with him because of his previous behavior, she ultimately decided to give him another opportunity.
After conversing into the wee hours of the morning, the two developed a relationship, and Jasmine realized how much he had changed. Their bond has become much stronger this week. While he waits for word from Martha, he utilizes ocean swimming to pass the time while Jasmine’s sporty demeanor rubs off on him.
However, when Kieran misinterprets her sentiments, their new relationship is jeopardized.
He’s sitting on the fence, staring out over the beach, when Jasmine comes across him. He expects his mother to have seen his letter by now, and since he hasn’t, he can only assume the worst. Jasmine, on the other hand, persuades him not to dismiss the situation just yet, and to give Martha more time.
She persuades him to return home with her for supper since she refuses to dine alone. It’s then when he receives a text from Roo, informing him that his mother and Alf have returned and that they’ll be visiting that afternoon!
His worries make him want to go for the bottle once more. Thankfully, he realizes this is his final opportunity with his mother and doesn’t want to blow it, which is enough to keep him sober.
When Martha shows there, though, things become a bit uncomfortable.
When Kieran asks if she read his letter, she responds with a simple “yes” – no more. Roo is surprised that her mother is so cold, and she pushes her to express her feelings to Kieran. She just has one question in reality:
“What precisely are you looking for from me?”
She goes on to explain. “You wrote me a letter in which you expressed your feelings. You didn’t make it clear what you expected from me.”
As they sit down to chat privately, all Kieran wants to say is that things will be different this time and that he hopes she would give him the opportunity to prove himself. He says that he’s been attending AA meetings, that he’s doing the work, and that she can even talk with his sponsor for an unbiased opinion.
“All I want to do is talk to my mother.” Have the connection we didn’t have.”
Despite the fact that he puts his heart on the line, she doesn’t reveal anything, and it’s apparent that Martha isn’t in any hurry to reintegrate her son into her life.
Later, he tells Jasmine about his mother’s coldness toward him. He’s never seen her like that before, and he’s concerned that she won’t allow him in again.
She advises him to keep his expectations in control as she prepares him a cup of tea in the kitchen. She does assure him, though, that his mother read the letter and drove a considerable distance to hear him out… They’ve got to be positive indicators, right?
“How do you always look on the bright side, no matter what?” he wonders with a smile.
It’s clear that he’s getting the incorrect idea when she reassuringly places her hand on his arm.
He made her breakfast the next morning as a thank you for being his shoulder to cry on.
He leans in for a kiss as she grins and assures him she’s always there for him!
Jasmine abruptly withdraws.
The only words Kieran can utter as he begins to panic out are, “Sorry, sorry no no-no.” “I’m sorry, ahh I have to leave, sorry!”
Kieran departs, despite her assurances that everything is great and her ability to keep a grin on her face.
When Jasmine pursues him along the beach, hoping to speak things out, he swings around and yells at her to leave him alone.
How will Kieran handle this big new setback, given that he isn’t renowned for dealing well with rejection?
To make matters worse, Jasmine has forgotten to take her epilepsy medication as a result of the stress. Kieran has cooled down and apologized for acting out again when she eventually catches up with him. However, it won’t be long until there are more pressing concerns.
It’s been hours since she was supposed to take her medication. Jasmine collapses and has a seizure before they realize it, with only Kieran present to aid her.
Unfortunately, Alf thinks the worst when he turns the corner and sees Jasmine fallen on the ground with Kieran standing over her.
Alf is yelling at his stepson to get away from her, clearly believing Kieran has done something bad.
Cash arrives on the scene shortly after Alf tries to persuade him that Kieran is to blame for Jasmine’s demise.
Who do you think Cash will believe?
