As he returns to the Bay sober, Roo (Georgie Parker) has been attempting to fight Kieran’s (Rick Donald) corner, but Alf (Ray Meagher) isn’t having it. When Roo and Ryder go by the bait shop, they run into Alf, who has returned early with Martha (Belinda Giblin).
Martha is furious at Roo for reintroducing Kieran to her life before she was ready, but she agrees to meet him. An unpleasant confrontation between mother and son takes place at Irene’s (Lynne McGranger’s) house, and Kieran afterwards admits he’s never seen his mother act so coldly.
He vents to Jasmine (Sam Frost), who continues to support him since she sees how hard he is working at his AA sessions and his temptations. He informs Jasmine that his mother doesn’t appear interested in having a connection with him, but she urges him to keep trying.
Kieran misinterprets Jasmine’s signals and moves in for a kiss. Jasmine is taken aback and leans back. Kieran rushes from the house, humiliated by rejection, and she chases after him. He begs her to leave him alone, but she refuses.
During their conversation, Kieran says that his counsellor advised him to stay away from circumstances in which he has difficulty coping. Jasmine, on the other hand, begins convulsing and collapsing to the floor.
As Alf and Martha pass by, they notice Jasmine sitting on the floor close to Kieran. Alf immediately calls the cops and informs Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) that Kieran assaulted Jasmine…
