This week on Home and Away, Jasmine Delaney flirts with new newcomer Cash Newman, hinting at a possible new relationship for the unlucky-in-love nurse.
Cash (Nicholas Cartwright), a police officer who first appeared on Australian screens earlier this year and whose first appearance on UK screens this week, has already been in the middle of the action, arresting Justin Morgan (James Stewart) and examining the body recovered at sea.
Cash and Jasmine (Sam Frost) will flirt when they keep stumbling into each other in the Bay in scenes that will broadcast this week in Australia and in September in the UK.
Jasmine will initially see Cash while she is out running and sees him swimming, according to TV Week. Cash recognises her from when she was suffering a seizure, but Jasmine has no recollection of him – but she is interested by the newcomer.
Cash decides to ask Jasmine out on a date as the two continue to flirt. When John Palmer (Shane Withington) asks them to eat with him and Irene Roberts (Lynne McGranger) at Salt, his scheme is thwarted.
Cash eventually tells Jasmine what he works for a career after putting in his best efforts to woo her, but a terrified Jasmine finds her desire to him cease.
Jasmine has a tumultuous history with cops: when she first arrived in Summer Bay, she accidentally killed Kat Chapman (Pia Miller) in a car accident, her relationship with Colby Thorne (Tim Franklin) soured, and her husband Robbo Shaw (Jake Ryan) died in a car accident, all three of whom were police officers.
“She likes the flirty banter – until she realises he’s a cop,” Jasmine actor Sam remarked of Jasmine’s emotions for Cash in an interview with TV Week. “She then applies the brakes. It gives her the creeps.”
Will Cash pursue Jasmine further, or will her prior experiences prevent this possible relationship from progressing?
