Lynne McGranger, who starred in Home and Away, has paid a touching tribute to Australian actor Dieter Brummer, who died over the weekend.
Brummer, who rose to fame as one of Home and Away’s most popular heartthrobs in the 1990s, was discovered dead inside his north-western Sydney home on Saturday. Earlier this week, police confirmed that they had attended to a welfare issue.
A man’s corpse was discovered inside the house, according to a NSW police spokeswoman.
“His death isn’t being investigated as suspicious.”
The Australian entertainment industry was stunned yesterday, with McGranger, the longest-serving female cast member on Home and Away, urging people to “please reach out” on Twitter.
“Ask whether individuals are doing alright,” she wrote.
“And if you’re not feeling well, tell someone! Whatever it takes, yell over the fence, phone, text, or post on Facebook (sic).
“I’m no expert, but I believe that talking about your worries, anxieties, and negative thoughts might assist to minimise their influence. DB, may you soar high (sic).”
Michelle Hardwick, who plays Lyne on the British soap series Emmerdale, reacted with a tweet that read, “Sending love to you all Lyne.” Such depressing news (sic).”
One user responded, “I got such a shock waking up and scrolling through my Facebook news feed to read this tragic news, it brought tears to my eyes.”
“It feels odd to have such an emotional response to someone I’ve never met before. I had so many memories of seeing him on the show as a kid. These are the kinds of things that make you think.”
“Rest In Peace old mate,” tweeted Australian actor and model Scott McGregor. Such a unique individual. Our motorcycle weekend will live in infamy.”
