Imran Habeeb of Coronation Street will make a divisive move next week when he plans a fresh way to support Kelly Neelan.
Imran (Charlie de Melo) has volunteered to represent Kelly in her upcoming trial, but as the case getting closer, tensions began to run high on the cobbles.
Following their involvement in Seb Franklin’s fatal attack, Kelly (Millie Gibson) and Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) have both been charged with murder.
The teenagers have presented conflicting versions of events that night, with each accusing the other of being blame for Seb’s death.
Imran worries about Kelly’s chances of avoiding a prison sentence in next week’s episodes since he can’t afford the experts needed to clear her name.
When Imran’s ex-wife Sabeen (Zora Bishop) pays him a visit on the street, he feels even worse. Sabeen admits that she is a barrister of Corey’s vast defense team as a barrister.
Sabeen informs Imran that he doesn’t have a probability of protecting Kelly acquitted since he believes the jury would believe Corey’s claims.
Later in the week, word spreads that local footballing icon Tommy Orpington has been lined up as a character witness for Corey.
When Jack Webster (Kyran Bowes) learns that Tommy is backing Corey, he makes some critical comments on a fansite dedicated to the footballer.
This quickly presents problems because Corey’s identity, which is supposed to be legally protected, has now been disclosed online.
When Seb’s mother, Abi (Sally Carman), realizes that this could jeopardize the entire trial, she is horrified. Abi accuses Imran of using Jack’s mistake to delay the trial after the police call to speak with him about his internet postings.
Toyah (Georgia Taylor) is shocked when Imran admits to doing exactly what he’s doing. Imran vows that he will stop at nothing to win the case for Kelly, no matter how unpopular it makes him on the Street.
