Maria Connor (Samira Longchambon) and Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) are expected to clash over a post on the local council, according to Coronation Street spoilers. Viewers have observed Sally’s attempt to alleviate the parking dilemma for Weatherfield residents as the crisis worsened.
Sally suggested that they implement resident parking permits to try to alleviate the traffic that is accumulating outside their homes. She was reminded of her time in politics during this time. It appears that she has rediscovered their enthusiasm, which may prompt her to return to it. However, it appears that she will run into some difficulties with a local lady, Maria Connor, who has a similar plan.
When the two decide to run for local government, the rivalry between them will begin. Maria will be pushed into politics in a few scenes that will show next week while she is having a conversation with Gary Windass (Mikey North). He acknowledges that the council is considering bulldozing the Red Rec’s playing fields in order to construct a new road in their place. Maria then complains to Sally about it.
Sally agrees to find out anything she can about the plans to bulldoze the playing field in exchange. Later, she investigates the council’s plans for the new bypass and informs Maria that they have little hope of blocking it. Maria, on the other hand, is not willing to give up and decides to meet with a reporter from the Gazette.

Maria later organizes a protest outside the council building, with the help of a few other citizens. Later, they run across Phill Whittaker, who claims to be a member of the planning committee, and Craig Tinker tries to put an end to the protest. When a reporter from the Gazette arrives, Maria gives him an exclusive. When Sally discovers that Maria is standing for council, she tells her that she has no experience with politics. When Sally announces that she will run for the local council, the two exchange glances. Will Sally have a chance against Maria with Fiz and Phil on her side?
