Kate Anthony, a former Coronation Street actress, has joined Emmerdale.
The Sun can exclusively announce that the Auntie Pam actress will join the show’s sister series as slain Andrea Tate’s mother.
She was well known for portraying saleswoman Pam Hobsworth on the cobbles for four years from 2008.
Pam was Molly Compton’s aunt, as well as the great aunt and step-grandmother of Jack Webster.
However, she is now portraying Andrea’s mother, Hazel, who is visiting the area for the memorial service for her dead daughter.
She will make her debut in the village next week.
Andrea, who is played by Anna Nightingale in the ITV soap opera, was murdered last week by serial killer Meena Jutla.
But, if she hadn’t made one deadly error, she could have easily survived.
Andrea made a frantic attempt to avoid Meena and save herself by entering the massive maze labyrinth.
Andrea, on the other hand, appeared to forget that the maze was composed of maize in all her frantic rushing around, terrified of being found and slain by nurse Meena.
As a result, she might have easily escaped by running through it.
Instead, she oddly treated the long-stemmed crop as an impenetrable barrier, allowing Meena to catch up to her and half-kill her.
Andrea attempted to defend herself with a flare rifle but instead set fire to the corn maze, as viewers watched.
Meena then abandoned Andrea in the fire, although Andrea wasn’t completely dead.
She frantically tried to get the walkie-talkie in order to summon assistance and expose Meena’s attempt to murder her.
But no one was paying attention, and Andrea was overtaken by smoke and killed in the maze’s center.
Fans, on the other hand, were quick to point out her gaffe.
One wrote: “Just run in a straight line through the maze! It’s not a brick wall!”
A second said: “Andrea, FFS, get out! If the others have managed to run around finding a way, so can you!”
Another added: “This is actually really unrealistic because they would all be dead by now from smoke fumes. Laughable.”
A fourth concluded: “Why doesn’t Andrea just run through the crops?”
Priya Sharma was critically injured in the fire, and Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd went public after reuniting outside of it.
After both of them attempted to save the other from burning, they confessed their affections for one another.
